FX options trading is nothing but a business of buying and selling currencies for profit opportunities and minimize losses. Companies typically use the FX options trading in order to minimize losses to protect their earnings margins, while investors often use options to profit from the forex market.
the complexity arises in the core product, the term "options" in the FX options trading. It can be quite complex financial instruments, and many experts will sound even more complicated to charge consulting fees are often excessive. Having been a retailer (and traded options) for more than 8 years, I can tell you that you do not need to be an expert able to use them for your profit in your day to day trading. This can be extremely powerful tools in leveraging your market views.
Here are the basics so that you can start trading FX options. You'll notice I will not use any technical jargon and will introduce new conditions that will explain step by step.
of the call option is a financial contract that gives the owner the right but not the obligation to buy currency at a certain price (strike) on a particular day for a pre-agreed amount (fictional). There is a special feature that distinguishes forex options from stock options, for example. In foreign currency buy currency automatically means selling other currencies. This means that the call option gives the right but not obligation, to buy a given currency and sell another currency. In exchange for this right the owner pays the premium option, similar to insurance premiums.
Similarly, a put option is a financial contract that gives the owner the right but not the obligation to sell the currency at a certain strike on a given day for a pre-agreed notional. Once again, in exchange for the right to an option holder pays the option premium. Then you will notice that in FX options trading call options on currencies will be automatically put option on the other side of the cross. In other words, call options on EURUSD (right to buy U.S. dollars), will also be a put option on USD (right to sell USD ).
