Your Forex Broker and Your Charting Package Are TWO Different Things

These are two different topics.

* Forex Broker (who handles your transactions and keeps a record of them)
* Charting package (a tool that suits your personality)

Ok, here's a radical idea: You will not have to use a forex broker's ticket. The radical may be a stretch, but from what we gathered most people use (atleast for the lack of creativity), the broker is charting package. Between your broker and charting package - your broker will be the first one you'd like to boot (go) - then your charting package. Yes! It is important to have a trusted broker - who has sufficient net assets, which allows the brokerage to liquidate your account easily. However, your charting package is a "decision" - you make your decision based on what the charts show you and your ability to properly read them. It is very important to draw up a package - that has atleast one of the following:

1 Tools that you know you need (use).
2nd Tools that you might want to use in back-testing
3rd Tools that generate "alerts" when necessary - for example, you may need to draw what they think is an important support or resistance on the chart - what good is it gonna do - if you do not "ring a bell" when the market hits that cost? - maybe your in another room - or perhaps on the same computer, reading an interesting article about Obama vs. McCain (?) - not to draw your package "careful" you into the mobile market?
4th I personally would prefer a package that will warn me a few pips - before my support or resistance is the goal - or you can make a noise on my computer or send me a text message - so far, I have yet to realize the joy in my life.
5th It is also necessary to design a package that does not use much resources your computer - who wants something that your computer freezes up every now and then?
6th Last but not least - you will need something to "enjoy" or atleast "tolerate" looking at - this is achievable only if the charting package allows you to change the background color of the candlestick, trend, color channel, etc.

Create a list of "what is my charting package should be " - and then compare it with what is available. Take it for a test drive - almost all of the subscription packages may be taken for a test drive - just make sure you cancel them (if you do not like) Forex Brokers on the other side - just a test drive you can do - is to use your demo account - and "feel" their trading platforms and execution. And its also good advice for a demo platform your broker before signing up. All the best in your setup.
